The rest of this works nicely, but having a planet/moon/whatever in front of the clouds really throws off our sense of realism. Judging by its positioning, and the relative crispness of its edges, it looks closer than the second rank of hills, like the one the stair rises from. So the resulting level of surrealism makes the foreground scene less believable to me, and therefore less powerful. Does that make sense?
